The Thirst: A Harry Hole Novel
A vicious murder of a young lawyer has cops scratching their heads. The victim is found with massive blood loss and puncture marks found on the body. The suspect is not known; the police are baffled. The chief of police calls on former detective Harry Hole to assist the investigation. Hole is currently a professor teaching investigative techniques. Hole is reluctant but is blackmailed into taking the position. Hole works with former protege Katrine Bratt and a few other officers to identify the killer. However, another attack occurs, the public fear is stoked by the media, and the heat is on. Harry begins to have questions about the suspect and a sense familiarity with the killer. Harry’s life is not without its challenges, as he fights a battle with the bottle and adjusts to married life. The dragnet for the vampiristic killer only exacerbates a turmoil-filled life. Will this case be the end?
Jo Nesbo’s latest mystery is fraught with suspense, tension, and dark comedy and is entertaining with every page, a refreshing change of pace. Harry Hole is full of complexities, but the reader is rooting for his success despite his imperfections. A well-written cast of characters makes this an excellent thriller.
