In this first book in the Jillian to the Rescue! series, we meet twelve-year-old Jillian as she struggles with grief at the loss of her parents. Forced to move to Arizona to live with a grandmother she barely knows, and an angry uncle who carries a long-standing grudge, Jillian’s loneliness threatens to overwhelm her. That is until she rescues an abandoned Arabian mare, and both of their lives are changed. Their bond gives Jillian newfound confidence that helps her to find friends, and foes, in the Arizona desert. While Jillian endeavors to find a way to tell her grandmother about the horse she so desperately wants to keep, her Uncle Aaron secretly plots to ruin her plans–in the most horrifying way.
Author Wendy Tinker lives in the Pacific Northwest on a small farm with a bunch of dogs, cats, chickens, horses and a donkey named Cracker Jack. Her lifelong love of horses led her to write about her passion for the intelligence and kind hearts of these noble animals in hopes that educating readers about proper horse care will help stem the flow of unwanted horses in our country. Wendy donates 10% of all proceeds from her books to registered horse rescues in the Unites States.
