“When you feel lost, my sweet Lori, follow the storm inside you.”
The call is out. The pirate king is dead. With no heir to the throne, the trials begin––a competition between the pirate captains to compete for the Bone Crown. Two pirate captains and a stowaway seeking revenge are each on their own path, but the seas have their own plans, and if they’re not careful, they will drown.
Pirates, magic, betrayal, and treasure? Crossbones had my interest due to the pirates. There are three point-of-view characters, but there are several more that are important and one I’m hoping to see more of in the next books. The characters are each different, with different pasts, goals, and personalities. There are a few things that, as I read, seemed like they were supposed to be mentioned earlier in the story but weren’t. The relationships are predictable as to who gets with whom, but that’s not new in young adult books. The same goes for a few secrets; they really aren’t hidden, but are still secrets from other characters.
