Dream Town (An Archer Novel, 3)
David Baldacci never fails to create an exciting story. In his newest installation, Dream Town, PI Aloysius Archer is back and finds himself thrown into a new case. While visiting his actress friend Liberty Callahan in Hollywood, the two go to a fancy dinner. At the dinner, they run into a Hollywood writer named Ellie Lamb who, when introduced to Archer, says that she would like to hire him because she thinks someone is out to kill her. He accepts and goes to Ellie’s Malibu home the next day only to find a dead man in her house and then get hit over the head himself.
This book has some really intricate characters and it’s hard to tell who is telling the truth and who isn’t. Everyone seems to have secrets that make Archer’s job difficult. The case takes him through Chinatown, to the docks, and into the homes of some very wealthy people. I love that this series is set in the 1950s. The dialogue is simple and the action is exhilarating. Fans of Baldacci will love this one from cover to cover.
