A Dish to Die for (A Key West Food Critic Mystery)
If you’re looking for a light, mystery read that involves delicious recipes, this book is for you. In A Dish to Die For, Hayley Snow is on the beach with her friend Eric when her husband’s dog stumbles upon a dead body covered in sand. Although Hayley is a food writer, she also tends to dabble in the odd mystery here and there and has a knack for detective work. Her husband, Nathan, is a police officer, and although he appreciates Hayley’s secondary detective skills, he is protective of her in a loving way.
I really enjoyed the slower pace of this mystery. Author Lucy Burdette takes the time to develop each character and this makes the book feel like you are right at home in a small town. Although a murder takes place, there is no blood or gore. The story focuses on the investigation and Hayley compiling recipes. A nice, added touch to this book was the recipes in the back. When the story mentioned a flavorful potato salad recipe, I was happy to find the recipe was included!
