Bevan is a bear who is very, very old by the time he comes to live with the girl. Bevan has patchy fur and his paws a little scrappy, but no matter what else, Bevan always smiles. Bevan started life with three children in a lovely nursery. They had a nanny who took care of them as they played. After the children were grown and gone, Nanny gave Bevan to her granddaughter. The granddaughter’s father became a lighthouse keeper and the granddaughter took Bevan along. When the granddaughter grew up, she gave Bevan to her son. And so the story goes carrying Bevan through journeys, tales of lost and found until she ends up with the girl.||Petra Brown is both author and illustrator of this sweet, quiet book. The main character, Bevan, never speaks or acts, but is simply present in the lives of others. The writing is fine, but the real star and strength of this book are the gorgeous, rich illustrations that fill every page. Young listeners will search every illustration for all the wonderful details Brown has incorporated in them. This beautiful, sweet book will become a favorite.
