Bill Price’s fifteen-year-old daughter, Summer, and her best friend, Haley, go missing only a year and a half after his wife died in an accident in their home. Two days later, the girls are found in the city park, beaten beyond recognition, one dead and the other clinging to life. Bill is told the one who survived is Summer, so he stays constantly by her bedside. But as she starts to recover, he realizes she may not be his daughter at all. Is the dead one her, or is she still out there? All Bill knows is he will do anything to Bring Her Home.

This book has so many twists and turns. Being a parent myself, I can’t imagine what it would feel like to go through the roller coaster of emotions that Bill does. Bill is a very realistic father–the way he acts and thinks, there isn’t anything unbelievable about him. He reacts to things exactly like you would expect, even making some dumb decisions that I probably would if my child were missing. Even his interactions with the police were believable. He doesn’t go full-on vigilante, but he doesn’t just sit by the phone waiting for information either.

There is a true story out there similar to this one called Mistaken Identity, but it was fun to read it as more of a suspense novel with a criminal element thrown in. I think you will enjoy this book if you like suspenseful stories, and especially if you like books where the bad guy is not obviously bad, just someone who has made some bad choices. Those who enjoy delving into human nature will find this book worth their time.
