City of Likes
Have you ever been so wrapped up in an influencer’s life that you think they are actually your friend? That’s what happened to Meg Chernoff, except they become friends in real life. After relocating to NYC Meg is feeling crushed under the weight of caring for 2 kids- a newborn and a difficult preschooler while her husband works long hours at work, struggling to get back into the corporate world, and navigating life in a new city while living in a cramped apartment. Enter Daphne, mom influencer extraordinaire who decides to take Meg under her wing and shepherd her into the influencing sphere. Meg loves the attention she gets from Daphne, and all the free merch she’s getting as a small influencer doesn’t hurt either. But this world quickly starts to dominate her life. Meg finds herself constantly checking her follower count and curating posts to make her life seem much more than it is, before she notices it her family takes a back seat. The more Meg’s online life flourishes the more her real-life falls apart. Finally, on a trip to Paris, she realizes that Daphne’s life is nothing more than a carefully crafted lie and she is close to losing everything she holds dear.
