Close to Home
Robert Dugoni never disappoints, especially in his book Close to Home. From tragedy to conspiracy to an out-of-hand drug epidemic, Close to Home has it all. And although I’m usually partial to a male protagonist, I cannot get enough of Tracy Crosswhite. She is extremely intelligent and witty, and she is fantastic at what she does. What I love about Robert Dugoni’s Tracy Crosswhite series is that, aside from the current investigation she is trying to solve, there is another, much more personal plot-line going on throughout all of the books. You follow Tracy’s private life as well, learning the struggles she faces, just like the ones many of us face, and it makes her extremely relatable and likable. In Close to Home, Tracy Crosswhite is determined to solve a case to bring closure to a mother who has lost her young son. Tracy is no stranger to loss, and she uses that loss to motivate herself to help others. I was amazed at how this investigation played out. With so many set backs and plot twists, I was guessing until the very end. This book was an exciting read, with writing so good it feels like you are watching a movie. Robert Dugoni never ceases to impress me and has easily become one of my favorite authors.
