Closed Casket: The New Hercule Poirot Mystery
Closed Casket is a new Hercule Poirot mystery, which involves the iconic detective visiting Lady Playford’s estate to be a deterrent to murder. As the evening wears on, Lady Playford reveals she has changed her will, throwing everyone for a loop. Things become even more strange when a murder is committed that night, but the victim is not who you would think. Can Poirot, with the help of Inspector Catchpool, manage to solve this murder and, even more difficult, figure out why it was even committed?
I have grown up loving all things Agatha Christie, and Hercule Poirot happens to be my favorite. So I jumped at the chance to review this book. However, I found it to be a bit disappointing. The plot is great, as are the characters, but I personally felt you could tell this was written by someone else trying very hard to sound like Agatha Christie. It didn’t have the same feel to me as her books. I think the author did a great job, and it is close, but it’s just not the same. I still found it entertaining, and I would read Ms. Hannah’s books even if they didn’t feature Hercule Poirot. I think fans of Agatha Christie will enjoy this; just know that you will be able to tell the difference.
