Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Volume 4 – The Endless Song

Gabriella Gonzalez has encountered some amazing creatures during her time traveling with the Doctor, but nothing could prepare her for the adventures that lay ahead. With musical beings from a city in the clouds, ancient neanderthals, and flying saucers abducting people from throughout time and space, she’s never been in more danger…and she’s never been more important. Gaby could very well hold the key to saving the universe.

Volume 4: The Endless Song is essentially two stories: a standalone adventure on Wupatki and the start to the Arena of Fear arc continued in Volume 5. (With a few smatterings of continuing story arcs from earlier issues, dangling threads that distract more than add to the narrative.) The book peaks early with the Wupatki story that gives this volume its name, a story of harmony shattered, a story of music come to life.

It’s easily the most beautiful story in the Tenth Doctor’s comic canon — and arguably the best story I’ve read in ANY of the Doctor Who comics to date — and when you factor in the wonderful sequences to come with the neanderthal healer Munmoth, The Endless Song is Doctor Who storytelling at its finest.
