Daily devotionals have become popular in the last several years. They have been designed for many beliefs and spiritualities. Natalie Grant is a successful contemporary Christian singer and songwriter. Married with three daughters of her own, she seems to have seen a need for a daily devotional for young girls and filled that need with this book. For girls eight to twelve years old who are followers of Jesus Christ, this book will be, for lack of a better word, a Godsend. It will encourage girls to either start or end their day with a little connection to or conversation with or reflection on or self-examination of their relationship with Jesus. Broken into seven chapters, titled “Be Forgiven,” “Be Changed,” “Be His,” “Be Encouraged,” “Be Free,” “Be Brave,” and “Be One,” this book offers a path to growth in one’s religion. While most pages have a Bible verse, a short discussion of what that verse means, and a little prayer, many pages have activities or puzzles to help the reader develop their own thinking about and love for God. The book is graphically quite beautiful, with a muted turquoise used for decoration. This is a perfect devotional for young girls.
