Gardening is extremely rewarding, but there are numerous problems to combat if you want a good harvest. Putting covers over your plants can help with so many of these problems, and this extensive handbook shows you how. Covers can extend the growing season and deter pests while giving your plants the care they need. The first part of the book introduces covered gardening, walks you carefully through the different types of structures and how to choose what you need, then adds how to build and maintain them. Finally, it shows you how to set up your whole gardening system, even including a month-by-month guide. The second part of the book discusses, individually, several different crops and how to plant and care for them in a covered gardening system. The instructions are detailed, with clear explanations and loads of gorgeous photos of the author’s garden. Growing under covers does require a significant amount of time, energy, and attention, so if you are new to gardening you may find this book overwhelming. On the other hand, beginning with covers might be the best way to start. But whenever you decide to implement this way of gardening, you will be thrilled at the results.
