Holy Chow: An Andy Carpenter Mystery (An Andy Carpenter Novel, 25)
Loyal readers of David Rosenfeld’s Andy Carpenter series will be delighted with this, his twenty-fifth novel. It features the brilliant, lucky, semi-retired attorney who lives in Paterson, New Jersey, with his wife, Laurie, son Ricky, and their three rescue dogs. Andy narrates the novel as he once again becomes the defense attorney for a wrongfully accused client.
Holy Chow opens with a seemingly simple description of a business executive out in the woods enjoying a retreat from his hectic life. Nope, a violent murder interrupts the peace and quiet. Next, we hear from Andy Carpenter, whose care for others sets him up to defend murder suspect Tony Wasserman, stepson of wealthy widow Rachel – $12 billion wealthy! Andy placed Chow’s rescue dog, Lion, with Rachel a few years back. He had no idea how wealthy she might be.
Andy and his team of tech-savvy folks dig deep into the likely reason for Rachel’s murder, money. Along the way, their thorough investigation stirs up trouble, and the dead bodies are piling up, which tells Andy that he’s making the right moves. Anything more about this case would require a spoiler alert. No chance of that!
