Just My Luck: A Novel
Just My Luck is the story of three families who have been friends since their oldest children were just infants. Every week, the three couples put money into a kitty for the lottery. Lexi usually collects the money and buys the ticket with the numbers that each couple has chosen. One week, they finally win the lottery, only Lexi and Jake claim that the other two couples had dropped out of the lottery syndicate. Of course, this creates chaos. In the meantime, Lexi and Jake are blowing money like there is no tomorrow.
The book started off with a really great story and I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen with the money and the couples. I have to say, all three couples were a bit annoying, especially when Jake, Lexi’s husband, starts spending the money on frivolous things such as a Ferrari and ten Michael Kors totes for Emily to hand out to her friends. The story really slowed like molasses until the last quarter of the book. The ending had action and a big twist that was really exciting. I just wish the whole book had been the same. It’s a fun read for fans of suspense; however, you can skip over the middle of the book without missing anything.
