Women of Los Angeles in the late 70s into the 80s were a riot of big hair, spandex tights, and clothes that we would find odd today. Moshe Brakha took these pictures of famous rock/punk stars, and not so famous ladies, all across Los Angeles. Some of the photos are shot on location, others are shot in studio, and some are in small apartments. But each scene is cleverly staged to tell a story or to overturn a convention. The photos range from moody black and white to bright pastel-like colors. Moshe Brakha knew how to capture his subjects, and in this book we get a look at his subjects during the rock/punk days of Los Angeles. The photos are clever, and they are not for the easily offended. Mr. Brakha was not shy about some of his models showing some skin. But if you are ready for a time machine back to the clothing and hair styles of this time period, then this book is for you. The play of color, light, shadow, and, at times, black and white creates an evocative tableau that will help young photographers with their ideas.
