Last Seen Alive: A Mystery (Ellery Hathaway, 5)
Last Seen Alive is the fifth book in the Ellery Hathaway series. Although this book is written so that readers can pick it up and start reading it without reading the previous books in the series, it really would be better to start from the beginning. In this story, we learn that Ellery was once kidnapped and tortured by a serial killer named Frances Coben who is now in jail. There are girls who are still missing, however, and who are presumed dead. The parents of a girl named Tracy want their daughter’s body to be found and to do this it is suggested that Ellery be used as “bait” to get him to talk. Coben has a hand fetish and Ellery is the only one of his victims that was found alive.
When reading the description of this book, I thought it was going to be a story with a fast-moving, exciting plot with a lot of suspense. Although the book was suspenseful at times, namely the end, it seemed to drag on at times and there were several times I found myself having to reread the page I was on because I was so bored.
