Lonely Planet guidebooks are exceptionally well prepared, very complete, user-friendly and periodically updated. Chile & Easter Island follows this old tradition prepared by four writers/researchers. This trade paperback is a hefty volume of nearly five-hundred pages yet it’s small enough to fit in a purse or large pocket. The book is begging to be carried along as it has so much useful information included. It will save the traveler money and wasted trips. The book is in ten sections, nine of which of areas of Chile, touring from north to south and the tenth is Easter Island. In addition, the first section, Plan Your Trip, must be read and followed before you arrive. Excellent detailed maps are part of the book for each area as well as street maps of cities you are likely to visit plus nice photos. The sections Best Places to Eat and Best Places to Stay for each area are likely to be used by everyone visiting the country. They also give approximate prices for everything listed. There are short essays such as Chilean Wines providing further interesting and useful information. If you are planning to visit Chile or Easter Island, this book is a must.
