My Little Half-Moon
My Little Half Moon is a charming story of a child who stays up each night to see the moon go from half to whole. The story is told in rhyme, and the child puts all their efforts into making the moon feel wanted and important so it will go from half to whole. (S)he shows the moon all of her favorite toys and talks to the moon about all manner of subjects. It seems what the moon really wants most is a friend. The illustrations, done in mixed media and collage on cold-press watercolor paper, add to and complement the story very well. They are vivid yet subtle. While the rhyming story is soothing, it does get repetitive and constrains the story at times. But overall, this is a fun bedtime book.
