Now and Not Yet: Pressing in When You’re Waiting, Wanting, and Restless for More
In Now and Not Yet, award-winning author Ruth Chou Simons shows readers how to walk through difficult seasons of life in a God-glorifying way by being present in the now while waiting for the not yet. Ruth teaches you how to “flip the script” of the stories you tell yourself by turning them into gospel truths. Over ten chapters, she gives hope and encouragement when you don’t like your right now by reminding you what God says about it and how He’s always working even if you can’t see it. Using many examples from her own life, Ruth helps the reader to see that they aren’t alone and that we all struggle to preach the gospel to ourselves every day.
I have never read anything by Simons before or heard her speak, although I have definitely heard of her. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and found it to be very helpful in my own life. While I got something out of every chapter, I found “Hidden Doesn’t Mean Forgotten” and “Chaos Produces Character” to be the most encouraging. I highly recommend this book to any woman seeking a Biblical perspective on difficult seasons.
