Obscura
Obscura by Joe Hart follows Dr. Gillian Ryan’s struggle against a new disease. It first claimed her husband, and now it wants to claim her 8-year-old daughter. This disease causes memory loss, hallucinations, and violence among its victims. Dr. Gillian has been conducting research into this disease, but, as soon as she is about to find answers, she loses funding. But she is contacted by an ex-boyfriend she had in college, who works for NASA and who wants her help to investigate a space station, where all the members have started to show the signs of the disease.
While reading Obscura, I was drawn in by both the plot and suspense, and it kept my attention throughout the whole book. You feel every moment of the suspense, the claustrophobia, and the isolation that Dr. Gillian feels throughout the book. I feel as though Obscura was perfectly paced and that there was never a dull moment.
