Only Human
In the conclusion to the Themis Files series, we discover the fates of Rose, Vincent, Eva, and planet Earth after the invasion by the aliens who created the Themis robot.
Vincent, Rose, Eva, and General Govender have spent the last nine years on an alien planet, and now they return to a world haunted by paranoia. As the Russians and the United States grapple for control — of Themis, Rose, Vincent, and Eva — the exiles try to adapt to a world forever changed by the deaths of millions.
After the one-two punch of Sleeping Giants and Waking Gods, Sylvain Neuvel really had to deliver with Only Human in order to conclude one of the best sci-fi series in years, and boy, did Neuvel deliver. Only Human creates one of the most engaging, fascinating, and believable alien civilizations I’ve ever seen in fiction.
This is science fiction, but it’s also ruthlessly realistic about humanity, our faults, and our tendencies. Only Human is a quick read but a draining one because it asks you to answer the same hard questions as the characters. Now THAT is the sign of a sci-fi epic that will stand the test of time.
