Palm Springs Noir (Akashic Noir Series)

In Palm Springs Noir, you’ll find fourteen different stories taking place in the Palm Springs area. All are dark and gritty, full of revenge, murder, and often just bad luck. This setting might seem unusual for these types of stories, but even sunny Palm Springs is full of liars, cheats and murderers. The desert might be full of sunshine, but it’s also full of people down on their luck, just trying to get by. You won’t find happy endings in these stories. You’ll find people who make one bad decision after another, where things go from bad to worse. You won’t see this side of Palm Springs on any brochure.

I’m not quite sure what to say about these stories. If you love noir, I’m sure you will love this latest installment in the Akashic series. They were very dark and very gritty. There were a few that I didn’t understand what was happening or what the point of it was at all. On the plus side, they are very short which makes for a quick read. I should have known what I was getting myself into, but really didn’t expect what I found. Maybe you’ll enjoy it more.
