Andy Weir, bestselling author of the The Martian, which became a hit movie, is back with another space adventure that reaches historic and epic proportions in Project Hail Mary. Something is eating up the Sun’s fuel, lessening its luminosity and, therefore, threatening all life on Earth in the decades to come. The book begins with our main character, Ryland Grace, waking up to find himself on a ship flying through space and we slowly learn the backstory of how he ended up there and what his mission is. He is traveling to a star that is not being threatened by the strange alien species taking away its light in an attempt to find out what the key to the problem is and, hopefully, to save humanity from potential extinction.

Project Hail Mary hits all the markers of a great science fiction novel, with interesting characters, a fun alien species, and a storyline that pushes the envelope of science and what our future may hold. It also features the classic Andy Weir style of the character working out how to do something seemingly impossible with what little resources he has. Fans of The Martian will absolutely love Project Hail Mary.
