Darcy Cotterill is a thirty-year-old divorced librarian living on Nantucket Island. Dating the handsome but quiet Nash, Darcy is happy with her life until summer tourist season. Not only does her ex-husband and his new family rent the house behind hers, but she gets involved in the lives of her two other visiting neighbors. Her quiet life is turned upside-down forever.

The premise of a young librarian with an exciting life was very promising; however, the story itself fell flat. Darcy is a character who often talks about how she doesn’t bother with the vacationers, except in this book, her interactions are in direct opposition to that. Also, the sweeping romance she’s supposed to experience with Nash is anything but. Their relationship has no depth and was not compelling to read about. The book is clearly intended to be a fluffy beach read, which is fine, but even for that, this story was a bit lacking. The best part was Darcy’s interactions with her new neighbors, Willow, Mimi, and Susan. The inter-generational friendship of women was heartwarming and fun, if a little unbelievable. (Willow is only fourteen.) Overall, it was a mediocre book.
