Sloth Sleeps Over
Sloth has been invited to her first sleepover by her friend Paloma, but Sloth is not entirely clear what a sleepover involves. Nevertheless, Sloth knows without a doubt that she excels at sleeping. In fact, it is her favorite activity! So, Sloth figures she must be all set until she realizes that Paloma is excited to stay up all night long. Suddenly, Sloth is anxious. She can barely stay awake normally, let alone all night. Still, Sloth gives it her all: eating pizza, playing games, dancing, and watching movies. At first, Sloth isn’t tired in the least, but she slowly becomes increasingly drowsy. Finally, Sloth decides she must tell her friend that she cannot stay awake, only to discover her friend is sound asleep. Sloth’s moment to shine has arrived!|| This is a charming picture book. Indeed, author/illustrator Blythe Russo has found a subtle yet delightful way to ease the fears of any young readers before their own first sleepovers. At the same time, the illustrations and text are so funny, that Sloth Sleeps Over may readily become a bedtime favorite.
