The Book of M by Peng Shepherd starts during the Forgetting, which started when a man in India lost his shadow. Soon it starts to spread, to the point where a large part of the world’s population has fallen due to the Forgetting. The first thing you lose is your shadow, and forgetting your memories is second. The Book of M follows a cast of characters whom others have heard rumors of, like “The One Who Gathers” in New Orleans, who may have a cure for the Forgetting.

I really enjoyed The Book of M. The book is really detailed, and in some parts drawn out, but the way that the characters are described and how they change throughout the book makes you fall in love with them. I enjoyed how The Book of M put a new spin on the apocalypse and how the survivors must figure out how to survive in the new world that was thrust onto them while trying to save their loved ones as well as themselves.
