The Dangers of an Ordinary Night: A Novel
What an unfortunate ending to what otherwise seemed like a really good book with potential for just about anything. Sam, June, and Tali are all in theater together and are all stars of the stage. They are hardworking, good kids, who also like to have fun. Until June and Tali show up on a beach and June is found dead. The Dangers of an Ordinary Night focuses on the girl who survives, Tali, and her very dysfunctional family. It also focuses on those who try to help Tali recover her memory from that dreadful night, a detective and a psychologist.
This book was set up really well for an exciting twist to happen. Something that no one would guess. There were so many loose ends in this book. For one, Nell, Tali’s mother, was having an after with Peter, June’s father. Then there is Tali’s father who has a dangerous gambling problem and owes money. The relationship between the psychologist and detective becomes very interesting as well. Again, this book really had the potential for something great but fell flat at the end.
