The Leaf Thief

The Leaf Thief is a funny book about a squirrel who believes that his leaves are disappearing each day! One day, Squirrel wakes up and looks at the leaves on his tree; he says them in a pattern and then notices that one is missing! Squirrel then goes to Bird to help him find The Leaf Thief. Squirrel is sure someone has been taking his leaves, especially when more are missing each day; he asks Mouse, Woodpecker, and even Bird if they are the thief, but each says no. Bird works with Squirrel to show him who the real leaf thief is and reminds him what happens every year in the fall.

The Leaf Thief made me laugh – a lot! Squirrel is silly, and it’s funny that he was getting so upset over one or two leaves missing. The ending was funny too because there is now a new thief! I like to read this book a lot, plus look at the pictures because of the colorful leaves on each page. When it gets hot in the summer, I like to think of the cooler weather in fall and winter, like in The Leaf Thief!
