The Original Glitch
Laura is a single woman living alone in a big city dealing with the typical problems of being alone, overweight, and not happy with her life. Laura is stuck working in the food industry with no end in sight based on minimum wage and a lack of experience to improve her life, but a good work friend helps make life more bearable. Adler is a grad student who is ready to be moving on with his life but also stuck in his priorities after the death of his graduate professor, leaving him with a mysterious project. Artificial intelligence (AI) is Adler’s focus, but the last thing from Laura’s priorities; yet there is a mysterious connection between these two characters.
Many themes show themselves in The Original Glitch with several religious references in the story, which seem appropriate given the overall theme. The appropriate intended audience should be for young adults for the language and sexual content. The story went quick and smooth through parts, then harder and required more concentration to read in others. The twist ending was out of nowhere and completely unexpected. The Original Glitch makes you think about our present world and the “glitches” that we experience everyday.
