The Perfect Fraud is an excellent read that alternates between the points-of-view of two women whom the reader doesn’t know are connected. In fact, the two women don’t know each other at all until they meet somewhere in the middle of the story. Writing in a way that captures the attention of the reader immediately, Ellen LaCorte does a wonderful job of building the characters.

Rena, a divorced mother, has a very sick four-year-old girl named Stephanie. She has taken Stephanie to see so many doctors and yet no one can find out what is wrong with her. Stephanie is frail and Rena tells the doctors that often she can’t keep any food down. The other main character, Claire, is a psychic by trade; however, she is also a self-proclaimed fake. Her mother and aunt both have psychic traits and Claire has been trained to read tarot, although she does not seem to share the psychic abilities of her mom and aunt. The stories of Rena and Claire culminate in a race against time that could potentially save a life.

The Perfect Fraud is a story that comes together so well you’ll be cheering at the end. When the truth about both main characters is revealed, the results are jaw-dropping to say the least. The story is perfectly fabricated with the intensity needed in any suspense novel.
