Now that Erin has some closure with her mother’s death, she’s looking forward to helping her uncle set up a forensic camp at school and possibly finding out more about their family connection. However, her boyfriend, Journey, has his own mystery to solve. His father was accused of killing a teenage boy with a trap set in their yard to discover who was harassing them. Journey has always maintained his father’s innocence, and now with the forensic lab opening in the school, he has hope for new techniques for finding evidence to free his dad…if only Erin can hold her curiosity in check and stay out of the way.

In this sequel to To Catch a Killer, Scarborough has created a main character who is real and funny – her teen angst feels true. Her friends are perfect supporting characters, with their own subplots that support and add to the main storyline. The combination of mystery and romance in the tale is a perfect blend – not too scary, not too sappy, just right. Fans of April Henry will enjoy this foray into forensics, where questions from the past are answered through the mysteries of the present.
