Death at the Manor (LILY ADLER MYSTERY, A)

Lily Adler has once again stumbled upon a mystery and a murder. There has been a Death at the Manor in the small village Lily’s aunt lives in. Lily and her friends were visiting the manor to be entertained by the owner Thomas Wright because there have been sightings of a ghost. Only when they arrive is it discovered that Mr. Wright’s mother has been killed in the night. Everyone assumes it’s the work of the ghost, as the door was locked from the inside. As the bodies begin piling up, Lily is determined to discover what is really happening and whether a ghost is truly at fault.

A clever addition to the Lily Adler series with a twist on the classic locked door murder mystery. Lily is wonderful as always, but I also enjoyed getting to know Ofelia better as well. I’m not loving the direction of Lily’s romantic affections and secretly hope she’ll realize where they should actually lie, but that’s just me. If you are a fan of the Veronica Speedwell series, this is another great series to add to your reading list. I expect it won’t be long before Lily finds herself in trouble once again.
