Set in 1890 London, news photographer Sarah Bain again finds herself embroiled in a multifaceted criminal case. First you have Sleeping Beauty, a woman whose identity is not yet known. She was found brutalized and unconscious. Then you have three missing women who may be Sleeping Beauty. Everyone has secrets, and everyone is a suspect. In addition to that, Sarah and her friends are dodging their past and enemies made from a previous case while trying to solve the mystery of who Sleeping Beauty is.

The author is masterful at weaving the many moving parts of this story together. Even though this is part of a series, I did not feel lost at all. I was able to suspend belief and what I know of certain true crime cases and became swept away by the characters and their experiences. I really loved the imagery in this novel, and the strong female characters. The ending was satisfying and left me wanting more all at the same time. I can’t wait to read the rest of this series. I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves historical mystery thrillers.
