CBD : A Patient’s Guide to Medicinal Cannabis–Healing without the High
I’ve investigated all kinds of options for treating my chronic illness, and when I consulted a doctor about medical marijuana, she mentioned CBD as a non-psychoactive (ie, it doesn’t get you high) component of marijuana that’s effective against pain. At that point, I had had no idea you could use marijuana without getting stoned, and I was thrilled. Because it’s non-psychoactive, CBD can be used daily for treatment of pain and other conditions, and it won’t interfere with your ability to go about your daily life.
But here’s the thing about marijuana–it’s complicated. Do you want to rub, smoke, vape, or eat it? Do you want bud, oil, wax, tincture, topical, edible, or cartridge? Do you want Charlotte’s Web, ACDC, Valentine X, Girl Scout Cookies, Hindu Kush, Mango, Kush, NYC Diesel, Sour Diesel…? What’s the best temperature to heat your marijuana at to get the results you want? Are you cross-eyed yet?
CDB: A Patient’s Guide to Medicinal Cannabis puts all of that information into a logical, comprehensible order and then walks you through it. So if you’re a novice at medical cannabis in general or high-CDB cannabis in particular, this book offers a great primer. And it includes a good deal of history and medical science to boot.
You probably won’t read this guide cover-to-cover straight away because there’s quite a bit to absorb. More likely, you will, as the authors recommend, move between sections according to what you need to know. If you want a thorough explanation of what CBD is and how to use it but don’t care about the history of its use or legal regulation, you can easily skip the former and go straight to the latter. There are precise dosage charts, a breakdown of CBD strains, and a guide to using CBD for specific health conditions, among much else. Overall, this guide is user-friendly, quite thorough, and extremely useful for understanding the uses and benefits of CBD as well as for learning exactly how to find and use what you need.
