Cut to the Bone: A Novel (Agent Sayer Altair 3)
FBI Senior Special Agent Sayer Altair was cut to the bone when her fiancé died four years ago. Although she grieves him still, she has been slowing rebuilding her life with her friends and family, as well as doing what she’s good at: catching serial killers. Her newest case involves a busload of students disappearing and, one by one, reappearing murdered in what seems to be a ritualistic way. Sayer does what she does best and assembles her team to follow the leads, but this case will turn out to be bigger than she could ever guess. There are people working behind the scenes to make sure she doesn’t solve this case so that bigger secrets can stay hidden. Sayer has to untangle the lies in order to save those high schoolers no matter the cost because that is the only thing that matters to her.
Another fantastic installment from Ellison Cooper in the Sayer Altair series. I love the amount of detail that goes into each case, showing how knowledgeable the author really is. Each book is not just suspenseful and entertaining but also interesting and enlightening as well. The neuroscience behind psychopathy and the mythological elements of each story are what drew me in, but each and every character kept me engrossed to the very end and always wanting more. If you love Meg Gardiner’s Unsub series, you will also love this series. I can’t wait to see what Sayer deals with next!
