Dead Money: A Jolly Lomax Mystery
The private detective Jolly Lomax quite by chance not that long ago gained a reputation as a PI who can help you in case of problems with a supernatural element to them. In this book, Lomax is hired by well-situated widow Mildred verDorn from whose offshore accounts–that only she and her dead step-daughter knew about–someone in the past year has managed siphon away millions of dollars despite every security measure that has been applied. So the only conclusion for Mildred to make is to blame the ghost of the mentioned step-daughter.
Finding out bits and pieces about other people lives isn’t the only skill that Lomax possesses; he also has a very good show magician talent, which proves useful during investigations when you know to what you should pay attention if and when someone else wants to divert it. Jolly Lomax needs only one clue so that he can dig up the next one and so on until the point where he discovers the perpetrator.
Dead Money is a good entertainment of the kind that you won’t (almost) immediately forget what it was about–that’s why if for any reason there should more adventures for Jolly Lomax I wouldn’t hesitate to read them.
