Doctor Who Dot-to-Doc: Join the Dots Across Time and Space

This isn’t your average connect-the-dots book. Hundreds of dots are scattered around each page, allowing you to slowly reveal images of the Doctors, their companions, their foes, and more.

I was thoroughly impressed by the design of many of the drawings. Accepting the Etch-a-Sketch-style challenge of a drawing where you never lift the penpoint from the paper adds a level of difficulty that could easily stymie an artist, and yet these drawings cleverly use that hindrance to their advantage, adding depth and dimension to portraits that practically leap off the page.

Although the progression of images ricochets all over time and space — the Doctors don’t appear in order — it’s very heavily biased toward the revival Doctor Who characters, shortchanging fans who might’ve hoped to see Ace, Adric, The Rani, Sutekh, or some of the other classic-era companions or villains from the show’s long history.

That being said, each image is a treat, and it’s surprisingly relaxing to take some time and indulge in one of these drawings. Doctor Who Dot-to-Doc is great fun.
