The story focuses on twin boys, Dell and Pete, who share everything in common- well, almost everything. When it comes to waiting for treats, they couldn’t be more opposite. Dell is able to resist temptation and wait for a preferred treat at a later time. Pete feels like he is unable to wait when presented with a treat and immediately reaches for the sweet in front of him. Dell teaches Pete coping skills that help with the frustrated and helpless feeling Pete gets around sweets.

Author Dan Graham has a Ph.D. in psychology and promotes the importance of healthy eating. This social-emotional rhyming book will provide children ages four to eight with helpful strategies for waiting. The reader’s note at the end of the book teaches adults how to talk to children about strategies to increase self-control. This book is a must-read for kids that struggle with self-restraint and require encouragement to decline temptation.
