Raising Children With Grit: Parenting Passionate, Persistent, and Successful Kids
Raising kids can be exhausting work! It doesn’t matter the age, or whose family they are born into, all kids are individuals who need encouragement and motivation to help them succeed. Laila Y. Sanguras has found a modern way to present findings from studies about parents’ and children’s lives. The encouragement to understand a child’s personality and the chapters about the Erik Erikson’s Psychosocial Development stages of individuals will help readers learn how to instill grit into their child. Grit, a main topic in the book, is the combination of perseverance and passion which Sangras says is necessary for children to develop and be successful. Children need grit in their present life as well as in the future.
Although the majority of the book talks about children, it also helps parents figure out their personal parenting style and determine if there is room for improvement.
Being a parent of two younger children, I found this book to be well written and worth the time I spent reading it. I can replace the older parent-help-style books with Raising Children With Grit; it’s modern lingo, and fun playlists at the end of each chapter are sure to win parents over.
