Doctor Who: The Tenth Doctor Facing Fate Volume 3 – The Good Companion
A sinister force, the Time Sentinels, are drawing threads together, weaving a web to trap The Doctor and eliminate him, now and forever. As first Earth is threatened, and then the lives of his friends and companions, The Doctor must be more clever, more resourceful, and more daring than ever. His adversaries understand time as well as he does, and their goal is the eradication of him and all the good he has ever done. Can The Doctor set things right, and at what cost?
Year Three’s epic plotline collides headlong with previous storylines in an incredibly ambitious — and occasionally confusing — showdown. As Gabby takes center stage, trying to sort out her powers, we finally begin to understand The Doctor’s mysterious opponents, and why they do what they do.
The sheer complexity here is impressive and, even more so, the fact that plenty of emotional moments still have time to breathe. Noobis, Cleo, Cindy, Gabby, The Doctor, and more all steal moments in the spotlight, and nearly all of them deliver.
Facing Fate edges dangerously toward being too complex and losing the reader but never quite tips over into the danger zone. Instead, it keeps tensions high and your mind spinning until the final twist.
